My winter started off a little warm this year, as I spent a couple of weeks exploring Brazil! Winter in the Northern Hemisphere is Summer in the Southern Hemisphere. Brazil is the largest country in South America with four time zones and five distinct climatic zones. We spent the majority of our time in Rio, Salvador, and Iguazu Falls, which was hot, humid, and rainy at times. Temperatures ranged from mid 70s to 90°F. While Brazil is known for its beautiful beaches, this packing list doesn’t focus on how many bikinis or shorts you should pack. Here’s the packing list for travelers who want to explore Brazil in a more adventurous way:

We will explore both the Iguazu Falls Brazil side and Argentina side. One main thing to do at Iguazu Falls is to take a boat ride at the base of the falls (where you are guaranteed to get drenched). Necessary clothing items for this excursion include:

Fine Print about Bikinis in Brazil
It’s a known fact that wearing barely-there swimwear at beaches in Brazil is the norm. While bikinis are fine on the beach, you should pack cover-ups for when you walk on the boardwalk. Walking around with your bikini on the boardwalk is a clear indication that you are a tourist.
New Year Eve in Rio
It is tradition in Rio to wear all white outfit for NYE. Make sure you pack your best white fit!
