Your trip to Ghana would be incomplete without experiencing Accra nightlife! Accra is a vibrant city with something to do every day of the week. Ghanaians are very warm and welcoming people who know how to have a good time. When my friends and I went out, the vibes were always positive and lively, and the music was always on point!
“Here’s a 7-day guide” to Accra nightlife (with recovery activities included) to inform your Ghana travel itinerary:
Monday
Paint & Sip at The Republic Bar & Grill
Address: Asafoatse Tempong St, Osu, Accra, Ghana
Beyond the Republic Bar & Grill being one of the best bars in Accra, it is also a creative space that hosts a variety of events. On Monday nights starting at 8 pm, the Republic has Paint Night for GH50. It’s a relaxing way to start your week by sipping, painting, and meeting new people. One of the things that make the Republic special is that they only use Ghanaian liquor to make their cocktails.
Tuesday
Karaoke Night at The Republic Bar & Grill
Address: Asafoatse Tempong St, Osu, Accra, Ghana
On Tuesday nights starting at 8 pm, the Republic has its karaoke night, which is a nice warm-up for Accra nightclubs. It’s hosted by an entertaining MC and they have an extensive song selection list that crosses different music genres.
Wednesday
Salsa Night at Afrikiko
Address: Liberation Road, Accra
This was by far one of my best experiences of Accra nightlife (and I had many) while I was in Ghana. Wednesday nights starting at 7 pm is salsa night at Afrikiko. They have a huge outdoor space with a stage that’s used initially for salsa lessons and then transitions to a medley of diversely skilled salsa dancers who range from novice to incredible! Around midnight they switched from salsa and played a mix of other music from hip hop to reggae to highlife (Ghanaian local music). My favorite part was getting on stage and learning some of the local line dances (think cha-cha slide on steroids). While there try their goat kebab with fries! It’s so good!
Live Music at the Republic
If you don’t want to test out your dance moves, you can sit back and enjoy live music at the Republic. You can enjoy different artists every Wednesday at 8 pm for GH20.
Thursday
Trivia Night at the Republic
Every Thursday night from 7:30 pm to 11 pm, the Republic hosts trivia night! After trivia night they play house music.
Beach Party at Labadi Beach
Address: La Rd, Accra, Ghana
If you want something more lively to do on Thursday night, head to Labadi Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Ghana! Labadi Beach, also known as La Pleasure Beach is well known for its beach parties. It’s one of the best outdoor Accra nightclubs where the parties go on until sunrise.
Enjoy Reggae, Dancehall, & Soca at Kona Grill and Lounge
Address: No 24 Oxford St, Accra, Ghana
Every Last Thursday of the month from 7 pm to 3 am, Kona Grill & Lounge strictly plays reggae, dancehall, soca, and lover’s rock. Entry is free for women before 9 pm, otherwise, it costs GH25. Kona is an open-air venue and is one of the best bars in Accra to enjoy locally brewed drinks. Kona serves palm wine and asana (a drink made from caramelized corn).
Friday & Saturday
Here are some of the top spots to experience nightlife in Accra Ghana on Friday and Saturday nights:
Firefly Lounge Bar:
Address: H P Nyemitei St, Accra, Ghana
This is a lively small bar with great Afrobeats, hip hop, and reggae music and an intimate environment. It’s an ideal place to start your night. The venue is always packed and it’s a great place to vibe to popular West African songs.

Twist Nightclub:
Address: Ndabaningi Sithole Rd, Accra, Ghana
After Firefly, we went to Twist, which is one of Ghana’s oldest nightclubs. I appreciated their music and fancy ventilation system (my edges were grateful). Twist has a huge dance floor and numerous booths to sit in. When we went there, there were guys grilling burgers directly outside of the club. It was the perfect in-between club snack and one of the highlights of my Ghana partying experiences (yup, food has that effect on me!).
SOHO:
Address: Marina Mall, Airport City, Accra
We partied at SOHO on our last Friday in Accra. This popular sushi restaurant transforms into a nightclub. As you can see from the picture below it gets really crowded, so your dance moves are limited to a two-step at best.
SOHO on a Friday night! All the way up!
Rockstone’s Office
Address: Near Police HQ behind Japanese Embassy Accra
Rockstone’s Office is a sleek bar owned by ‘Godfather of Hiplife’ Reggie Rockstone where celebrity sightings are normal. It has a circular bar and outdoor cabana areas serving delicious drinks. Rockstone’s Office has live music performances on their terrace. It is also known as one of the best places in Accra to eat waayke, a Ghanaian dish consisting of cooked rice and beans.
Sunday
On Sunday We Brunch & Chill!
Visit some of the big hotels like Kempinski Hotel and Labadi Beach Hotel for fancy brunch options including local and non-local dishes. While at Labadi Beach Hotel, take a stroll along the beach or take a short horse ride for GH15 cedis. If your looking for a more quaint brunch option check out Cafe Kwae, their Croque Monsieur is a definite must try plus they have really tasty natural juices!
